A twelve-week paid residency in Durham. Work alongside our cofounders on the first physiological foundation model. Paid trial. Paid summer. Housing, compute, and meals covered.
Lumos Health is building the first physiological foundation model.
It's a continuous-time, multimodal model of how the human body changes over time and responds to disease, drugs, and other interventions.
Nobody else is going after it directly, at least not that we've seen. As a resident, you'd work on the model's core components alongside the rest of the team.
Build ML systems that respect physical constraints. Use simulation and HPC as ground truth. Digital twins for cardiovascular disease, cancer, and drug response — alongside our CSO, an ACM Prize in Computing recipient.
Efficient and trustworthy ML, LLM agents, multimodal learning, sparsity. The methods that have defined the modern frontier.
You'll pick one track when you apply, but both cohorts share a house, an office, and a weekly seminar — so you're in conversation with the other side all summer.
Total package: ~$11,500/month with housing, food, and compute factored in.
Both of our research cofounders are based here, with UNC 12 minutes from our office and Duke just 8. The Research Triangle is one of the densest AI-for-science corridors in the country, and your stipend will go a lot further than it would in SF or NYC.
You'll live in one of two cohort Airbnbs, work out of a real office, and spend the summer with a small group of peers.
We're looking for students, undergrads, PhDs, and researchers with strong technical backgrounds. Show us your best work.
